Hi, we’re Appelsien Holding, a small investment company based here in the Netherlands. We’re not a big bank or a short-term Private Equity investor. We’re more like a family business that buys and grows other solid, long-standing companies, especially in software, engineering or business services or equipment rental, especially supplying to oil & gas producers, where we can help the most.
We’re looking for businesses with a strong foundation & reputation. Maybe the owner wants to retire, or there’s no one to take over—but the company still has a lot of potential. That’s where we can step in.
We don’t believe in big changes for the sake of it. We work closely with the people already in the business and build on what’s already working well. Whether that means improving systems, adding new services, or helping the company grow, we’re here for the long run.

Who’s Behind Appelsien?
Appelsien Holding was started by Kirill Silkin. He’s worked in both big and small businesses with hands-on roles — so he understands how things really work on the ground. He began his career in investment banking, helping companies buy, sell, and grow. At the same time, he started a small retail business, which failed – a painful but important learning experience. Later, he became the Managing Director of a Dutch offshore energy company with €450 million revenue, 300+ employees and over 40 years of history. Over next 8 years he was involved in everything from dealing with life-threatening price drops, reorganizations, and reviving project management system to putting new field in production during COVID, fully automating and de-manning operations, and developing new strategies. But even during challenging times, when the company had to severely reduce the organization, he made sure the good people stay with the company.
In other words: Kirill knows how to run a business and cares about the team. He is also a husband and a proud father of 3 kids (plus a dog and two turtles), loves sports, music and classic cars. He’s not just here to invest—he is a partner ready to roll up his sleeves and help companies grow the right way, while respecting everything the founder built. He is especially good at building practical systems and processes, excels at strategic thinking, and brings his capital and extensive network to help stable companies grow to their next stage. That’s why he started Appelsien: to take over a good, solid business, take care of the people in it, and build something that lasts
